Caring for Your Leather

A quality leather piece isn't just a purchase—it’s a companion that grows better with age. Whether you own a pair of our boots or a handcrafted wallet, following these simple steps will ensure your leather develops a beautiful patina and lasts a lifetime.

The Routine: Clean, Condition, Protect

1. Clean

The Goal: Remove the "hidden" grit that wears down leather fibers.

• Daily: Use a soft horsehair brush to flick away dust and dirt after use.

• Deep Clean: For stubborn spots, use a damp cloth with a specialized leather cleaner. Never use dish soap or harsh household chemicals, as they strip the leather of its natural oils.

2. Condition

The Goal: Keep the leather supple and prevent cracking.

• Frequency: Every 3–6 months, or whenever the leather starts to feel dry to the touch.

• Method: Apply a small amount of leather balm or cream with a lint-free cloth. Massage it in using circular motions, let it absorb for 15 minutes, and buff away the excess.

3. Protect

The Goal: Create a barrier against rain, salt, and stains.

• Seasonal: If your product lives outdoors, apply a beeswax-based protector to help shed water.

• Storage: Always store leather in a cool, dry place. For bags, use a breathable dust bag; for boots, use cedar shoe trees to maintain the shape of the last.

⚠️ The "Never" List

• Never dry wet leather with a hairdryer or near a radiator. High heat makes leather brittle and prone to snapping.

• Never store leather in plastic bags. Leather needs to breathe; plastic traps moisture and can lead to mold.

• Never skip a patch test. Always test new conditioners on a hidden area first to see how it affects the color.

Why It Matters

When you take care of your leather, you aren't just cleaning a product; you are maintaining the integrity of the material. Properly cared-for leather remains strong, flexible, and uniquely yours.
